But just as you excel in
everything -- in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in
complete earnestness and in your love for us -- see also
that you excel in this grace of giving.
II Corinthians
8:7
Give, and it will be
given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken
together and running over, will be poured into your lap.
For with the measure you use, it will be measured to
you.
Luke 6:38
6 Then the leaders of
families, the officers of the tribes of Israel, the
commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and
the officials in charge of the king's work gave
willingly.
7 They gave toward the work on the
temple of God five thousand talents and ten thousand
darics of gold, ten thousand talents of silver, eighteen
thousand talents of bronze and a hundred thousand
talents of iron.
8 Any who had precious stones gave
them to the treasury of the temple of the LORD in the
custody of Jehiel the Gershonite.
9 The people rejoiced at the willing
response of their leaders, for they had given freely and
wholeheartedly to the LORD. David the king also rejoiced
greatly.
I Chronicles
29:6-9
English translation
Once, a distraught man rode his horse
up to John Wesley, shouting, "Mr. Wesley, something
terrible happened! Your house... it's burned to the
ground!" Wesley weighed the news, then calmly replied,
"No. The Lord's house burned to the ground. That means
one less responsibility for me." Wesley's reaction
wasn't denial. Rather, it was a bold affirmation of
reality - God is the owner of all things, and we are
simply his stewards.

The Treasure Principle
As base a thing as money
often is, it yet can be transmuted into everlasting
treasure. It can be converted into food for the hungry
and clothing for the poor: it can keep a missionary
actively winning lost men to the light of the gospel and
thus transmute itself into heavenly values. Any temporal
possession can be turned into everlasting wealth.
Whatever is given to Christ is immediately touched with
immortality.
